Blog for unit 3

An awareness of strengths and weaknesses are important on this journey and the first step is the commitment to change.
A. In reflecting the level of wellness physically I would say I am at about a 6. I eat a very healthy diet with very little processed foods or sugar. My diet consists of mostly organic, whole, GMO free foods. I am active in my job and I walk 2 miles at least 5 times per week. The activity I can add is increasing the intensity level of exercise to reach a more desired level of fitness.
B. Spiritual wellbeing I would also rate a 6. I had begun this process before this class as I was meditating and attending church more often as well as getting involved by volunteering to help those less fortunate. The activity I want to do for this is to act with loving kindness, first to myself by not being so critical of myself. If I wouldn't think it about someone else I shouldn't think it about myself. I will also continue with the loving kindness through prayer and continuing to help those less fortunate.
C. Psychological wellbeing I would rate at a 6 as stress plays a larger role in my life than necessary. The activity for this one is to act with intent. Not allowing shifting mental thoughts to control my attention. I want to practice the skillful action and stop to think before I react to a situation or thought. It can also keep me in the present moment enjoying life, each precious second of it. Meditation is something I have started and am working on to stay in the moment and not let my thoughts wander.

The relaxation exercise was better than the first one, however I found it hard to picture someone so that was a little frustrating as I kept trying to picture someone as the exercise continued. It was good that it made me see the strengths I already have.

  1. Hello Leslie-

That is great that you exercise and attend church. You are volunteering on top of that. I also volunteer three days a week at two different places. That is one of my favorite things to do. I feel so connected.

Exercising and attending church regularly are two of my goals. You have inspired me to go out and do it.

    Thank you, Brandie

  2. Hello Leslie!

Exercise is very important toward reaching not only physical wellness but also psychological and spiritual. All three must be in balance, and though you have rated each at a 6, it seems that all three are balanced with eachother; you have an equal amount of gain needed in all areas. It's difficult to be balanced in such a way but you have at least obtained that level of wellness. Exercising will help to gain more in physical, but at the same time as your physical wellness increases you will also increase in mental wellness due to having less to think about your physical; you will gain in spiritual wellness due to your mind being more free to more spiritualistic activities. It's all interconnected and you're on the way to obtaining tripple wellness! Meditation can help greatly as well and it is one of my favorite exercises to perform as it can help center everything and allow you to focus on what is needed to obtain more wellness, just keep it up! I wish that I could reach such a level of balance between all three aspects of healing, however right now I'm a bit disorganized!

    Great post!!
