I really enjoyed the universal loving kindness exercise. The practice of expanding the loving kindness was easy and made me feel that way through most of the day. It only takes 10 minutes and can be done anywhere. For example when being frustrated in traffic it is a nice thing to repeat and helps me to feel empathy toward others. It was a relaxing exercise and made me feel connected.
The assessment was a little confusing as it was much more involved. There are places in each area I would like to develop but the one I am willing to share is the biological. Although I am active and walk or use the treadmill or exercise bike I need to have a program for fitness that works on strength training. Strength training is an important as women age for bone strength and weight management. I can join a gym and work with a personal trainer to get a program that works for me.

Hello Leslie,
ReplyDeleteJoining the gym is a great idea. The hardest thing for me is that I had to make time to get there after work and still have time to keep up on my school work. I just got done setting up my downstairs to use for working out on my treadmill, weights..... I have found that I can keep up with my school work a little better if I stay at home and walk on the treadmill, while I read. Running is not advised. LOL. I had a personal trainer for 6 months and it was a great experience. I recommend it so that you get the one on one experience and see how the physical part of your nutrition degree will work. I do have to say, that the more you work out the more my mind works better. It definately stimulates the prefrontal cortex more when you ecercise. Good luck in your journey. I have only two terms left myself. Thanks for sharing. Erika Schafer
Leslie, where about do you live? I am a trainer and would love a new workout buddy! lol(: I have been lacking the motivation myself lately and have had a hard time finding the time! This assessment was a lot to take in. So many different dimensions of our life to take into consideration! I assume with practice and more awareness it will be easier to map out a plan for ourselves and eventually help others do the same. Most definitely a challenge this week though!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the Loving kindess this week. I enjoyed how it took about 10 minutes and was relatively easy to fit into my schedule. Also, you discussed something that I feel is extremely important for women: strength training. So many women still feel today that if they pick up a weight it will bulk them up. Lifting on a regular basis will not only help with keeping joints, muscles and bones strong, but is a great way to maintain a healthy weight! Thanks for posting and sharing your thoughts!
